*Recognizing the voice of God:* In Scripture, God is said to communicate through a whirlwind (Job 38:1), to announce His presence by an earthquake (Exodus 19:18), and to speak in a voice that sounds like thunder (1 Samuel 2:10; Job 37:2; Psalm 104:7; John 12:29). In Psalm 77:18 His voice is compared to both thunder and a whirlwind. And in Revelation 4:5, we’re told that lightning and thunder proceed from the throne in heaven.
There are times in my life I've experienced God speak to me as loud as thunder and as quick paced as lightening... While at other times he speaks so softly that I can barely hear him though all the din that surround me. Even so there are times he has spoken to me in silence.
*Dreams, Visions, Pictures Thoughts, Hymns...*
Have you ever had God speak to you through a dream like he did in Joseph's life? Did he give you an interpretation at the time? Did he speak through a vision or a picture? I'm my life the first time I've heard God speak to me it was in the silence of my heart. I was just 26 years then, he caught my attention, I heard him and I wanted more... I just couldn't get enough of Him. Way back in December 2010, I had the most powerful effort with Jesus. He revealed himself to me as my personal friend and saviour. My life has not, can't and will not be the same ever after that encounter with Jesus. Just as the encounter with Jesus was hidden from the sight of the deciples on the road to Emmaus, so he hid himself from the Magdalene despite her blinded live for him. The only way we recognise Jesus is in the Breaking of the bread, the holy Eucharist.
Recognizing the voice of God:
How would you recognise good code of he speaks to us in such diverse ways. Depending on the circumstances and situations, he will speak through thunder out through silence... It's confusing I admit.
The voice of God of patient and kind, slow to anger and abiding in merciful love.
